continuum

Our work exists across two states. The original photograph, shot on film — a small, tactile object shaped by environment, chance, and irreversibility. And a digital photograph — shaped by intention, control and refinement, flexible until resolved in print.

In the context of contemporary art, we seek to illuminate the rarity of the vernacular and allow the image to speak beyond its original restrictions.

Our reassertion of the original, allows for the continuum — an heretofore personal relationship with the photograph, now marked by a transformative experience with not only the photograph, but the photographer.

Through our research and upsampling, we’re applying new school technology to old school quality, and imperfection is consistent with origin. While there will be loss and there will be gain, we stay as true to the original image as possible and make every effort to find the right balance between analog and digital, past and present.

These images could never have been imagined at the scale we can now experience them, and are best viewed from a few steps back. Our goal, is for you to to find a meaningful connection, to transport the spirt of the photographer and to marry the magic of photography with the magic of painting.
